Mom accused of killing her boyfriend in front of kids

GIG HARBOR, WA – An altercation that resulted in a fatal shooting inside a residential property on Wednesday evening has spurred a homicide investigation in Gig Harbor. The suspect, a woman, allegedly shot and killed her boyfriend in a house where children were present during the incident.

Following a 911 call reporting screaming and subsequent gunfire at a residence near Ray Nash Dr. NW and Ray Nash Ct. NW, Pierce County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) officers detained a 34-year-old woman upon their arrival.

Within the premises, authorities discovered a 39-year-old man dead. The woman’s 11-year-old daughter and two additional young relatives, aged four and six, were also inside the house at the time of the shooting.

While it remains uncertain if the children directly witnessed the shooting, Sergeant Darren Moss of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department voiced his concern about the traumatizing impact of the children finding the deceased boyfriend inside the residence.

The Washington Department of Children Youth and Families withheld any comments about potential prior involvement with the family due to “confidentiality laws.”

Interviews with the apprehended woman revealed that drug use was prevalent before the shooting unfolded. Detectives presently theorize that the woman shot her boyfriend and fled the home while firing additional rounds.

Subsequently, she was taken into custody and remanded in the Pierce County Jail, facing charges of second-degree murder.
