Mom and son killed in car crash with police officer

MISSOURI CITY, TX – An accident involving a police officer’s cruiser and a family car has left a mother and her 16-year-old son dead in Missouri City, Texas. On Thursday night, the officer was responding to a robbery call when he collided with the family’s vehicle.

The mother and son were exiting a Dollar Tree parking lot when, at approximately 8:40 p.m., their car was T-boned by the police cruiser. Witnesses described the horrific accident by recounting the loud crash they heard following the collision, with the police car then engulfing in flames.

Details about the victims’ identities have not yet been released. In a bizarre twist to the tragic incident, several hours after the crash, first responders discovered an unidentified person in the back of the charred police cruiser. Video footage from the scene showed the emergency personnel pulling the individual out of the patrol car to administer aid.

But many questions remain unanswered, including how this person ended up in the back of the police cruiser and why they weren’t noticed until hours after the accident. Kenneth Mitchell, a witness present at the Dollar Tree at the time of the crash, expressed his disbelief that the individual was only found three and a half hours later.

The health status of the officer and the person found in the cruiser remains unknown. There has been no report on the robbery suspect whom the officer was reportedly chasing at the time of the tragic accident. Missouri City Police reported that the officer, who had been a part of their unit for less than a year, had a prior two years of experience with another agency.
