Mom killed after telling drug-using couple to move away from her home

HEMET, CA – A heartbreaking event took place in Hemet, California, when a mother was killed after she confronted a couple who were using drugs near her children’s bedroom. The incident happened at an apartment complex on South Gilbert Street, as reported by the victim’s spouse, Cody Weems.

The 28-year-old mother, Shawna Weems, had asked the couple to relocate further down the street. Instead of complying, the female member of the couple stabbed Shawna, leaving her three children without a mother. Cody Weems, mourning the loss of his wife, expressed his longing for justice.

After the horrific attack, the couple escaped in an RV. Shawna was taken to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The Hemet Police Department is actively following leads to catch the culprits in this mother’s untimely death.

Shawna’s high school friend, Brooke Blackford, called for the culprits to surrender. She remembered Shawna as a devoted mother who would do anything to shield her children. “She was always wanting to protect her kids,” Blackford said. Her three children are ages 5, 6, and 7.

In response to the tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been set up to help Cody and his children move from the apartment and start rebuilding their shattered lives. A candlelight vigil for Shawna is planned for Saturday, September 23, at 6 p.m. in front of the apartment complex.
