BRONX, NY – A shooting incident in the Bronx left a mother dead and her two children injured on Saturday morning. According to sources, police are searching for the boyfriend of the deceased woman. He has been identified as the alleged shooter in the deadly incident.
Local law enforcement received an early morning call, around 5 a.m., reporting gunshots in an apartment building located at the intersection of East 203rd Street and Valentine Avenue in the Bedford Park neighborhood of the Bronx.
First responders arrived to find a 40-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds to her abdomen. Despite rushed medical aid, she was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to a nearby hospital.
The woman’s two sons, a 16-year-old, shot in the rear end, and an 8-year-old, shot in the arm, were also at the scene. Both boys were injured but are expected to recover from their gunshot wounds.
Residents revealed that there had been a heated argument before the gunshots were heard, leaving the community in shock. One local commented on the unprecedented violence in the otherwise safe neighborhood where they’ve lived for seven years.
As of now, the police are actively seeking the deceased woman’s boyfriend who is not the biological father of her sons. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
