Mom shoots teen daughter when searching for her keys

NASHVILLE, TN – A tragic incident unfolded in Nashville, Tennessee, as a mother accidentally shot and killed her 13-year-old daughter while searching for her keys in her purse. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is currently investigating the unfortunate death of the teenager, Dearria Radley.

The incident occurred on Saturday night, around 10 p.m., when the mother, DeAnn Radley, dialed 911 in a panic. According to the information provided by Radley to the police, she was looking for her keys in her purse when she unintentionally triggered her loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol.

The bullet fired from the handgun pierced through the purse, fatally injuring her daughter. The 13-year-old was immediately taken to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. Despite the immediate medical attention, the teenager succumbed to the gunshot wound.

In an interview with local NBC affiliate WSMV, a distraught Radley described her current state of being as “falling apart.” She expressed her profound love for her daughter and the immense grief she is experiencing due to the tragic incident.

As of now, the Nashville police have not filed any charges related to the incident.
