Neptune Township, New Jersey – A lucky individual in Monmouth County, New Jersey, is now a billionaire after winning the $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot, officials announced on Tuesday. The winning ticket was sold at ShopRite Liquor in Neptune Township, although the winner has yet to come forward.
The New Jersey Lottery has revealed that ShopRite will receive a $30,000 bonus check for selling the winning ticket. State lottery officials have scheduled a news conference at the retailer’s location on Route 66 for noon on Wednesday.
It is important to note that just because the winning ticket was sold in New Jersey does not necessarily mean that the winner resides there. The last time someone clinched the jackpot was on December 8, and when no one wins, the jackpot grows larger. Prior to the drawing, the estimated jackpot was a staggering $1.13 billion.
