Morgan Wallen arrested for throwing a chair off a six story bar

NASHVILLE, TN – Morgan Wallen, a renowned country music artist, was detained by local authorities after reportedly flinging a chair from the rooftop of a new six-story bar in Nashville’s downtown area.

The 30-year-old singer was taken into custody early Monday and charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct, as shared by the Metro Nashville Police.

The accusations arose after a chair was hurled from the top of Chief’s bar, landing on Broadway close to two patrolling officers. According to the arrest report, the chair landed approximately 3 feet away from the officers. Witnesses reportedly observed Wallen lifting a chair, tossing it over the roof, and laughing about the incident.

Wallen’s legal representative, Worrick Robinson, confirmed the arrest late Sunday, stating that Wallen was fully cooperating with the police. The singer was subsequently released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 3.

Wallen has made a significant mark on the modern country music scene. His third studio album, “One Thing at a Time,” released in 2023, was the most popular album in the U.S. last year. It dominated the Billboard 200 for 16 weeks in 2023, holding the top spot for 30% of the year. This achievement surpassed any other album since Adele’s “21” over ten years ago.

However, Wallen’s career has not been without controversy. In 2021, he faced an indefinite suspension from his label, and his music was removed from radio stations and streaming platforms after a video of him uttering a racial slur surfaced. Consequently, he was either disqualified or limited from several award shows and did not receive any Grammy nominations for his best-selling album, “Dangerous: The Double Album.”

Wallen was previously arrested in 2020 for public intoxication and disorderly conduct after being expelled from Kid Rock’s bar in downtown Nashville. Wallen later expressed regret for the incident on social media.
