A Florida woman has been arrested and charged with aiding her son in planning a fatal shooting at a Home Depot store. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Sheila Agee, 50, after discovering text messages that allegedly implicated her in the murder plot. Her son, Keith Agee, 20, was previously arrested in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Brooklyn Sims.
The incident occurred at a Home Depot store on Davis Highway in Pensacola. Keith Agee was taken into custody hours after the shooting. The relationship between Agee and Sims was not disclosed by the police, but local media reported that the two shared a 2-year-old daughter.
The Sheriff’s Office revealed that Sheila Agee was involved in the planning of the attack. Text messages between the mother and son indicated that she was aware of the plan to kill Sims and assisted in locating the victim. The messages were released by the department on its Facebook page, suggesting they were exchanged shortly before Sims was shot.
Sheriff Chip Simmons expressed his disbelief at the mother’s involvement in the crime. He stated that while the murder itself was shocking, the fact that the mother knew about it and helped coordinate it was beyond comprehension.
Keith Agee is currently facing charges of homicide and aggravated battery. His mother, Sheila Agee, has been charged in connection with the shooting after allegedly assisting her son in planning the attack. The explicit text conversation between the two, made public by the Sheriff’s Office, reveals a chilling premeditation of the crime.
Keith Agee was arrested shortly after the shooting and remains in jail with no bond. His mother was arrested in Washington County, Alabama, and is facing charges of principal to first-degree murder. She will be extradited back to Florida. Her arrest came after she attended a balloon release for Sims in Cintronelle, Alabama.
