LAKE RIDGE, VA – The body of a 30-year-old woman from Virginia was discovered in a garbage truck after family members raised concerns when she didn’t collect her child from daycare.
Prince William County Police Department reported that they were called to a residence in Lake Ridge, Virginia, on the evening of Thursday, March 21. The call was made by worried relatives who reported that Taty’ana Zakiyyah had gone missing.
Zakiyyah’s family began to worry when the mother of one failed to show up at her child’s daycare center.
The Newport News Police Department confirmed that Zakiyyah’s body was found in a garbage truck in Virginia. As the investigation began, authorities started looking for Zakiyyah’s vehicle. They soon discovered that her vehicle was in the possession of her 28-year-old roommate, Brendon Devon White.
The vehicle was found in Newport News City, Virginia, with Zakiyyah’s personal items still inside. Detectives also halted a nearby garbage truck where they discovered the victim’s body.
Upon conclusion of the investigation, White was apprehended by the police and charged with second-degree murder.
