Murder at Seabright Beach: UC Santa Cruz Student Killed by Boyfriend in Tragic Incident

Santa Cruz, California – The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office has identified the tragic victim allegedly killed by her boyfriend at Seabright Beach as Zainab Mansoor, a 21-year-old UC Santa Cruz student from San Ramon. Mansoor was found unconscious by Santa Cruz Police after her boyfriend reported a homicide involving himself. Despite being rushed to the hospital and placed on life support, she unfortunately passed away.

The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Samuel Brannigan Stone, a former UC Santa Cruz student, was arrested for homicide around 1:16 a.m. Friday. Police mentioned discovering the victim’s unconscious body next to Stone during his arrest, confirming the relationship between the two as a dating one.

Stone was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail for the homicide and is awaiting his arraignment, which has been rescheduled to a later date in March. The University of California Santa Cruz confirmed that Stone was a former student while affirming the victim’s status as a current student at the university.
