Murder suspect shot by police

OAKLAND, CA – A man implicated in a murder investigation in Sacramento met a fatal end in Oakland, 80 miles away, when he was shot by the police on Wednesday. According to official reports, the man was killed after he reportedly emerged from a residence wielding a firearm.

The Sacramento Police Department had contacted their counterparts in Oakland, seeking assistance in apprehending a murder suspect. The Oakland Police Department confirmed this in a brief statement issued on Thursday.

Upon reaching West Oakland, the police officers began securing the area where the suspect was believed to be. The situation escalated when the man stepped out of a house, brandishing a firearm. The police officers responded by opening fire, which resulted in the man’s death.

Despite immediate first aid administered by the officers and subsequent arrival of emergency personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave. The incident is currently under investigation by the Oakland Police Department’s Homicide Section, Internal Affairs Division, and the Oakland Community Police Review Agency.
