Murder Suspect Xavier L. Tate Jr. Wanted in Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca’s Fatal Shooting – Arrest Warrant Issued!

Chicago, Illinois – An arrest warrant has been issued for a 22-year-old suspect facing a first-degree murder charge in the shooting death of Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca. The warrant for Xavier L. Tate Jr. was signed by a judge on Friday afternoon, as per documents filed with the Circuit Court of Cook County.

According to court records, Tate allegedly used a 40-caliber handgun to fatally shoot Huesca, who was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds near his Gage Park home early Sunday morning. Responding to a ShotSpotter alert at 2:53 a.m. near West 56th Street and South Kedzie Avenue, officers found the 30-year-old officer, who had been shot in the face. Despite being rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, Huesca was later pronounced dead from his injuries. The 6-year veteran of the force had just finished his shift and was in uniform when the tragic incident occurred. Additionally, his Toyota SUV was stolen but later recovered.

Chicago Police have refrained from commenting on the matter, stating that no one is currently in custody. Previous court records also indicate that the suspect failed to appear earlier in the week for an unrelated court appearance.

In the wake of the arrest warrant being issued, preparations are underway for Huesca’s visitation and funeral as his community and fellow Chicago Police officers mourn his loss.
