Newark Airport Chaos: Flights Grounded After Plane Goes Off Runway!

Newark, New Jersey – Flights into Newark Liberty International Airport were disrupted on Thursday afternoon after a private Embraer business jet skidded off the runway during landing, causing the airport to temporarily close the affected runway. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported that some departing flights heading towards Newark had to be held at their originating airports due to the incident.

The Port Authority confirmed that the private aircraft sustained damage to one of its wings in the accident, which occurred around 1:50 p.m. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident. As a safety measure, the runway where the plane went off will remain closed while investigations are carried out, potentially impacting both inbound and outbound flights.

In response to the situation, the FAA implemented a temporary ground delay at Newark Liberty International Airport. Departures from the airport were experiencing delays of 15 minutes or more, while flights heading to Newark from other locations were facing average delays of approximately 95 minutes, as reported on the FAA’s website.

United Airlines also acknowledged the disruptions caused by the incident, stating in a social media response to a passenger that certain flights had to circle Newark’s airspace. The airline confirmed the situation of an aircraft being stuck on the runway at EWR, leading to the need for some planes to wait in the airspace.

As authorities work to resolve the aftermath of the plane incident at Newark Liberty International Airport, passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for updates on flight schedules and potential delays. The safety and security of all individuals involved remain a top priority as operations resume at the airport following the runway closure.
