Dallas, Texas – NFL star Rashee Rice has surrendered himself to authorities after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with a high-speed car crash that left four people injured. Rice, a wide receiver for the Superbowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, is now facing eight felony charges related to the incident, each carrying potential lengthy prison sentences.
The charges stem from an April crash in Dallas involving two speeding vehicles, a Lamborghini and Corvette, which caused a chain reaction collision damaging four more cars. Both drivers fled the scene following the accident, with Rice eventually turning himself in to face the charges after an arrest warrant was issued.
Upon his arrest, Rice was taken to a local jail with a bond set at $40,000. The charges he faces include six counts of collision involving bodily injury, each punishable by up to five years in prison and fines of up to $5,000. Additionally, he faces a charge of collision involving serious bodily injury, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, and aggravated assault, punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
In a statement released earlier in April, Rice took full responsibility for his part in the crash and expressed his apologies to those impacted. Dashcam footage from another motorist captured the moment of the collision, showing both speeding vehicles losing control and crashing into multiple cars on the highway.
The driver of the Lamborghini, 21-year-old Theodore Knox, is also subject to an arrest warrant in connection with the crash. Rice, a native of the Dallas area, was drafted into the NFL in 2023 and played a significant role in the Chiefs’ recent Super Bowl wins. Authorities continue to investigate the incident as Rice awaits further legal proceedings.
