NFL Super Bowl Champion Arrested on Drug Charges for the Second Time in a Year – What Happened?

Charlotte, North Carolina – Former NFL player Bashaud Breeland, known for his Super Bowl victory with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020, has found himself in legal trouble once again. Breeland, 31, was recently arrested in Charlotte on various charges, marking his second arrest within a year.

During an incident where the Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to a drug call, Breeland allegedly assaulted the officers. Upon investigation, the police discovered narcotics, including marijuana, mushrooms, sedatives, and opioid pain relievers. Additionally, multiple firearms were found at the scene.

Breeland now faces multiple charges, including felony drug charges, two counts of assaulting a government official, resisting arrest, and injury to personal property. This recent arrest comes after a previous incident in August 2023, where Breeland was found with a stolen vehicle, firearms, and various drugs.

A former star athlete at Clemson University, Breeland was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 2014. He later joined the Green Bay Packers before playing for the Chiefs, where he made a significant interception during the Super Bowl. After his time with the Chiefs, Breeland briefly played for the Minnesota Vikings in 2021.

This latest arrest adds to Breeland’s history of legal issues, including a previous arrest in South Carolina in 2020. The ongoing legal troubles cast a shadow over the once-promising career of the talented cornerback, raising concerns about his future in professional football. Breeland’s repeated run-ins with the law highlight the challenges faced by athletes transitioning out of the spotlight and serve as a cautionary tale for others in similar situations.
