Los Angeles, California – Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have found themselves in the midst of a housing predicament, as they were recently forced to vacate their $20 million Los Angeles mansion due to an alleged mold infestation. Reports indicate that the Hollywood power couple, along with their daughter, Malti, had to leave their dream home after it was deemed “unlivable.”
The couple took legal action and filed a lawsuit in May 2023, citing issues with the pool and spa that led to a mold infestation. According to court documents, the property suffered from water damage, rendering it “dangerous from a health perspective to occupy.” The lawsuit alleges that the damages are substantial and significant, prompting the couple to seek cancellation of the purchase and sale agreement, as well as compensation for “consequential damages.”
The estimated cost for repairs has ballooned to over $4 million, with a hefty price tag of $1.5 million for waterproofing repairs and an additional $2.5 million for “general damages.” Currently, the family is living elsewhere while repairs are underway at their sprawling property, which boasts several luxury amenities, including seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a spa, gym, chef’s kitchen, wine room, indoor basketball court, bowling alley, home theatre, entertainment lounge, and billiards room.
The lawsuit also claims that a water leak at the barbecue area on the deck further exacerbated the situation, causing damage to a portion of the interior living area below. The couple’s lawyer emphasized the severity of the situation, stating that it is like “everybody who put a pick or a shovel in the property is going to be involved” in unraveling the cause of the defects, with the builder having to prove who was responsible.
While confusion looms over who is to blame for the damages, it is important to note that no one is suing Nick or Priyanka directly. The family’s luxurious living situation has been upended, and they must now wait for the resolution of the legal dispute and the completion of repairs before they can return to their mansion.
