During an event on women in leadership co-hosted by Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a prominent Nigerian economist and head of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Meghan shared her newfound connection to Nigeria, describing it as “eye-opening” and acknowledging the country as a part of her heritage. She was moved by the characteristics attributed to Nigerian women – brave, resilient, courageous, and beautiful.
Meghan revealed on her podcast in October 2022 that a DNA-based test unveiled her Nigerian ancestry, with her sharing the news joyfully with her mother. The revelation of being “43% Nigerian” had a profound impact on her, especially considering the lack of knowledge about her African American lineage.
