Nine people injured in series of stabbings at strip mall

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A total of nine people were injured in a sequence of stabbings near a strip mall location in northwest Indianapolis, which occurred early Monday morning. The city’s Metropolitan Police Department is presently investigating the incident and has detained two persons in relation to the violent outbreak.

The initial report about the incident came at approximately 3:40 a.m. when officers responded to an address corresponding to a strip mall and the restaurant, Miami’s Garden. The primary report indicated that a disturbance was taking place, which escalated soon after.

On arrival, police discovered several people within a parking lot, showing indications of injuries consistent with stab wounds, William Young, a public information officer for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, stated. The number of injured individuals initially reported to be three increased to seven by 6:30 a.m. and to a total of nine as of the 9:30 a.m. update.

While five individuals were transported to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment, two in critical and three in stable condition, four others received treatment at the incident’s scene and were then released.

Among those hospitalized was an individual described as a ‘person of interest’ in the case, Young also stated that the violent incident appeared to stem from a dispute between two distinct groups within the parking lot.

Police are still conducting their investigation, reviewing camera footage from surrounding businesses. No arrests have been made so far, but inquiries continue into this violent disturbance.
