Scottsdale, Arizona – A Scottsdale police detective, Ryan So, tragically passed away in what authorities are calling a “line of duty death.” Detective So, who served with the department for over nine years and also had a background in the U.S. Navy, leaves behind his wife and three children.
The incident unfolded on a Thursday evening, with a call for emergency assistance between 78th and 76th streets near the Greenway-Hayden Loop where Detective So was discovered. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Assistant Chief Rich Slavin expressed the department’s profound grief and asked for privacy for So’s family and the police force during this challenging time.
The Scottsdale Police Department has assured the public that there is no immediate threat to the community. An investigation into the tragic event is being conducted by the Mesa Police Department as part of the East Valley Critical Response Team.
