One dead, five more injured in bar shooting

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A violent outbreak resulted in one fatality and left multiple people injured at a Broad Ripple bar early Saturday morning, as confirmed by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD). The incident occurred just before 1:30 a.m. at Landsharks on Broad Ripple Avenue. IMPD officers were already on patrol in the vicinity of the bar, and they responded quickly when they heard gunfire from within the establishment.

The ensuing chaos saw local hospitals admit five men from the scene, all suffering from gunshot wounds. A sixth victim later presented himself at an Indianapolis hospital. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries, while authorities indicate the others are in stable condition.

Matthew Thomas, IMPD North District Commander, expressed his condemnation of such violence, stating it is “absolutely unacceptable.”
By late Saturday morning, IMPD detained a 25-year-old male on Murphy Landings Drive, who subsequently faced arrest by homicide detectives on a charge of murder.

Police are encouraging anyone with potential information regarding this incident to reach out to IMPD Detective Steven Gray. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
