Opening day at Six Flags turns deadly

ATLANTA, GA – A 15-year-old boy is battling for his life following a shooting near Six Flags Over Georgia, a popular amusement park in suburban Atlanta. The incident occurred on Sunday, with law enforcement agencies reporting a gunfight between the police and a group of individuals.

Cobb County Police Department officers were stationed near the entrance of the amusement park on Saturday to manage the crowd. This was in response to a series of fights that had erupted among the park’s departing visitors, as stated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The situation took a turn for the worse when several individuals opened fire, with one bullet hitting an empty police patrol car. Officers gave chase to the shooters, who had retreated into the surrounding woods. During the pursuit, a police officer fired his weapon, striking the teenager.

The injured boy was immediately transported to Grady Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation reported that no officers were injured during the incident. A handgun was found in the vicinity of the injured 15-year-old.

The shooting incident is currently under an independent investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The results of the investigation will be submitted to the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office.
