Palworld Developer’s Candid Response to Declining Player Base: “Lazy” Discourse?

LONDON, UK – The developer of the popular game Palworld has responded to the discussion surrounding the decrease in player numbers since its launch, dismissing the criticism as “lazy”.

Speaking on social media, Pocketpair community manager Bucky, who represents the Palworld development team in the West, reflected on the game’s first month in early access form across PC and Xbox platforms.

Bucky expressed his initial confidence in the game’s potential, stating that while the number of players surpassing 50,000 seemed unlikely, the game’s success has exceeded expectations. He acknowledged that some players may have temporarily put the game aside but assured them that the team is diligently working to address issues and introduce new content and features.

Despite a decline in concurrent players on Steam, Palworld continues to be the third most-played game on the platform, trailing only Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2. Its successful launch on both Steam and Xbox Game Pass has garnered over 12 million sales on Steam and seven million players on Xbox, with promising prospects for the game’s future.

In response to the narrative that Palworld has lost a percentage of its player base, Bucky dismissed it as “lazy”, emphasizing that it is acceptable for players to take breaks from the game. He reassured players that new content is in development and encouraged them to explore other gaming experiences while waiting for future updates.

Palworld’s success has led to the developer’s recruitment drive due to overwhelming demand for additional staff, reflecting the unexpected scale of the game’s popularity.

However, Palworld’s launch has not been without controversy, as Pocketpair has faced allegations of similarity to Pokémon, leading to death threats and intellectual property disputes. Despite the challenges, the game’s developer remains committed to addressing critical issues and implementing new features for the game’s community.
