Parole Agent’s Killer Captured: Suspect in Custody After Horrific Maryland Murder

Chevy Chase, Maryland – Authorities announced on Saturday that the suspect involved in the killing of a Maryland parole agent in a Chevy Chase apartment is now in police custody. Montgomery County police identified the suspect as 54-year-old Emanuel Edward Sewell, who was apprehended on Interstate 64 near Hurricane, West Virginia, and will be extradited back to Montgomery County.

Law enforcement officials from the U.S. Marshals Task force arrested Sewell, a registered sex offender, during a traffic stop. The arrest follows the death of 33-year-old Davis Martinez, the parole agent, who was found with multiple injuries in the 2800 block of Terrace Drive while conducting a resident check on Sewell.

Sewell has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with Martinez’s death. Police Chief Marcus Jones expressed his condolences to Martinez’s family and highlighted the dedication of law enforcement officers who risk their lives every day to protect the community.

Carolyn J. Scruggs, secretary of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, called for support for Martinez’s family, recognizing the uncelebrated work of public servants like Martinez who contribute to law enforcement daily.

Authorities responded to the welfare check call on Martinez after he failed to report back to work following the resident check on Sewell. Martinez was found deceased inside the apartment on Terrace Drive, with the exact cause of death yet to be disclosed by officials.

Officials urge anyone with information related to the case to contact county police at (301) 279-8000 or visit the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County website, offering a reward ranging from $250 to $10,000 for tips leading to Sewell’s arrest.
