Pensacola Man Arrested in Fatal Hotel Shooting

Deputies said one man died and another was wounded after gunfire inside a hotel room.

PENSACOLA, FL — A Pensacola man was arrested Thursday after a double shooting at Hotel Del Sol left one man dead and another injured, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said.

Ke’Shawn Marcellus Warren was booked into the Escambia County Jail just after 2 a.m. Thursday on charges of homicide and attempted homicide. Deputies said the shooting happened Wednesday morning inside a room at the Hotel Del Sol on Pensacola Boulevard near Kenmore Road. The case remains under investigation, and officials have not released the names of the two victims.

Deputies first responded Wednesday to the Kenmore Road area after reports of a shooting victim. Investigators later determined the gunfire came from a room at the hotel, which sits along the busy U.S. Highway 29 corridor in Escambia County. One wounded man ran from the hotel and collapsed nearby, authorities said. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A second man arrived at a hospital in a private vehicle with gunshot wounds to his legs. Deputies said those wounds were not life-threatening.

The sheriff’s office said Warren, the man who died and the surviving victim were all inside the hotel room when the shooting happened. “No motive has been established at this time,” the sheriff’s office said. Officials have not said what led up to the gunfire, whether a weapon was recovered or how Warren was identified as the suspect. No other arrests had been announced as of Monday, and deputies have not released additional details about possible witnesses inside or near the hotel.

The arrest came less than a day after deputies were called to the scene around 11 a.m. Wednesday. Early reports from the scene described a man who had fled the hotel after being shot before collapsing in the street. The surviving victim’s arrival at the hospital by private vehicle gave investigators a second location to account for as they traced the shooting back to the hotel room. The sheriff’s office has described the case as a homicide investigation tied to the same burst of gunfire that injured the second man.

Warren was being held without bond after his booking, according to local jail information reported after the arrest. The charges mark the start of the court process, but formal charging decisions, arraignment scheduling and future hearings were not immediately detailed in public updates. Investigators are expected to continue reviewing evidence from the hotel room, hospital reports, witness statements and any video from the area. The sheriff’s office has not said when it will release the deceased victim’s identity.

The Hotel Del Sol is located near Kenmore Road on Pensacola Boulevard, a commercial stretch north of downtown Pensacola with motels, gas stations and other roadside businesses. Deputies and emergency crews were seen in the area after the shooting as investigators worked to connect the street scene, the hotel room and the hospital report. The sheriff’s office has not described the shooting as random, and officials have not said whether the three men knew one another before Wednesday.

As of Monday, Warren remained accused of homicide and attempted homicide in the June 10 shooting. The next major update is expected through court filings or another statement from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
