Google has announced that the rollout will be phased, with all handsets expected to receive the update by next week.
In a recent community post, Google revealed that the May update is targeted at Pixel devices running Android 14, including the Pixel 5a and above. The update, labeled as AP1A.240505.004/005, will also include the Pixel Tablet. The rollout is scheduled to commence today and will be carried out in phases over the next week, depending on the carrier and handset model.
Among the updates included in the May update are the latest security patch, bug fixes, and enhancements in Bluetooth LE audio stability and performance for Pixel devices, including the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet. For owners of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro who have experienced issues with camera performance, especially when recording videos, a new fix has been implemented in the update.
This latest update follows the recent Pixel Watch update released to all models running Wear OS 4. Like the Pixel phone update, the Pixel Watch update will also be rolled out gradually over the next week. With monthly updates for Pixel devices and recent launches of the Pixel 8a and Pixel Tablet, Google is now gearing up for the upcoming Google I/O 2024 event on May 14.
