Police chase ends in multi-fatality crash

ANDERSON, IN – A high-speed chase initiated by the police in Pendleton, Indiana, culminated in a tragic crash in Anderson, resulting in two fatalities and several injuries. The incident transpired on Sunday afternoon and later led to the apprehension of the fleeing suspect.

The chase shifted from Pendleton into Anderson, where the suspect’s vehicle rammed into two other cars. The city of Anderson is located approximately 30 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

In the aftermath of the collision, a married pair, identified as John E. Lewellen, 74, and Karol K. Lewellen, 68, of Anderson, lost their lives on the spot. Furthermore, out of six passengers in another vehicle involved in the accident, four suffered severe injuries and were immediately transported to the hospital for treatment.

On the other hand, the suspect responsible for initiating the chase endured only minor injuries. The authorities promptly detained the individual. The Anderson police have refrained from disclosing the suspect’s identity until the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office officially presses charges.

While the circumstances leading up to Sunday’s chase have not been made public by the police as of Monday, further investigation and details are anticipated.
