Police hunting suspect who left teen girl dead in a ditch

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A 17-year-old girl was found deceased in a ditch on Tuesday evening. Local authorities and the girl’s family are now desperately seeking the perpetrator of this heinous act.

The body of Kaitlin Hernandez was discovered by officers from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) just before 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Her remains were found in a drainage ditch beneath a bridge on Dell Oak Drive’s 7600 block, as per the SAPD’s Wednesday social media update.

The victim’s mother, Angie Hernandez, expressed her grief and confusion over the incident, questioning the motives of the person responsible for her daughter’s death. She emphasized the need to identify and apprehend the individual responsible for such a cruel act.

The SAPD has since detained a person of interest who is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation. However, no arrests have been made at this time.

The cause of Kaitlin’s death was determined to be strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head. She was preparing to graduate from high school in May.

San Antonio Crime Stoppers has offered a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in this case. In the meantime, a GoFundMe page has been set up by Crystal Rodriguez, Kaitlin’s aunt, to support the grieving family.

On the night of her disappearance, Kaitlin had gone for a walk with a male friend. While the friend returned home, Kaitlin did not. The friend has since been questioned by the police, in addition to the person of interest.

A vigil is planned for the teenager on Friday at 6 p.m. at 118 Ashland Drive.
