Porsche Unveils Two New Plug-in Hybrid Panameras in Response to Growing Demand

Stuttgart, Germany – Porsche has unveiled two new plug-in hybrid Panameras as part of its efforts to expand its offering of electrified vehicles in response to growing demand for more efficient and dynamic powertrains. Following the announcement of the third generation Panamera last year, which included the Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, the automaker is now introducing the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and the Panamera 4S E-Hybrid, with a fourth model to be revealed later. This move comes as the demand for hybrids continues to rise, despite a slowdown in the sales growth of pure battery-electric vehicles in various markets.

The new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid will feature a revamped 2.9-liter V6-twin-turbo engine with an output of 300 horsepower, while the 4S E-Hybrid will offer a slightly higher performance output of 348 horsepower. Both models are equipped with a larger battery capacity, faster charging speed, and improved throttle response, reflecting Porsche’s commitment to enhancing the driving experience for hybrid vehicles.

With an 11-kW onboard AC charger capable of charging the battery in as little as two hours, the new Panameras are designed to provide a more seamless transition between electric and hybrid modes. In addition, the vehicles come with a smart navigation system that optimizes the drivetrain strategy based on the route, offering a more efficient driving experience, especially in urban areas with frequent stops and starts.

The new models also offer two additional drive modes, E-Hold and E-Charge, to preserve the state of charge of the battery or to charge it using the combustion engine. Furthermore, the Sport and Sport Plus modes have been adjusted to target lower state of charge levels, aiming to improve battery life without compromising performance.

These latest additions to Porsche’s lineup of electrified vehicles come on the heels of the announcement of an all-electric Macan and a refreshed Taycan with ultra-fast charging capabilities. The automaker’s expansion of its hybrid models reflects its strategy to diversify its offerings and cater to the evolving preferences of consumers in the electric and hybrid vehicle market.

Porsche has been a player in the hybrid market for over a decade, with plug-in hybrid versions of the Cayenne and Panamera, as well as non plug-in hybrid models of the Panamera and Cayenne. The introduction of the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid and 4S E-Hybrid demonstrates the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability in the realm of hybrid and electric vehicles.
