Pregnant woman killed, 3 others injured in birthday party shooting

A pregnant woman lost her life in a tragic incident at a park in Texas early Saturday morning. The altercation, which escalated into gunfire, also left four other individuals injured. The shooting is currently being investigating by the Houston Police Department.

According to the family of the victim, a fight broke out at Margaret Jenkins Park in southeast Houston at around 1:14 a.m. on Saturday. The Houston Police Department received multiple reports of shots fired at the location through its ShotSpotter technology. Assistant Chief E. Garcia stated that a total of 36 shots were detected by the technology. Police believe that the altercation between different groups of people led to the use of firearms and the subsequent shooting.

Three of the individuals struck by gunfire, including the two suspected shooters, were taken to a local hospital. Assistant Chief Garcia confirmed that they are currently in stable condition. Another person suffered a graze wound but did not require hospitalization.

The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Autumn Vallian by her family. Autumn was attending a birthday party with her friends and family when the fight broke out. According to her mother, Ebony Vallian, Autumn was trying to leave the park when she was tragically shot. Ebony Vallian expressed her devastation, stating that Autumn was five months pregnant and had been looking forward to becoming a mother.

The two suspected shooters have been detained at the hospital, as confirmed by Assistant Chief Garcia. The police are actively looking into the incident to ascertain if there are any other individuals involved.

In the wake of this incident, the Houston Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in their investigation.
