San Francisco 49ers Coach Kyle Shanahan Pleased with Intense Super Bowl LVIII Week Practice

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — As the San Francisco 49ers prepare for Super Bowl LVIII, Coach Kyle Shanahan led his team in a rigorous practice session at UNLV’s Fertitta Football Complex. The intense workout lasted for an hour and 27 minutes, with about 50 minutes devoted to full team drills following warmups and positional drills.

Shanahan expressed satisfaction with the team’s tempo and energy, noting that the practice was even better than the previous day’s non-padded workout. Quarterback Brock Purdy received praise for his solid performance against both the starting and reserve defensive units during the team periods.

The Thursday practice saw the 49ers quickly move through 12 periods as they were observed by CBS’s Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, Tracy Wolfson, and Evan Washburn from the sideline.

The team’s injury report remained largely unchanged, with left tackle Trent Williams returning to practice in full after taking a rest day on Wednesday. However, tight end George Kittle, defensive end Arik Armstead, cornerback Ambry Thomas, and linebacker Oren Burks were limited in their participation. On a positive note, defensive tackle Kalia Davis participated fully after his return from injured reserve a few weeks ago.

Shanahan’s message to the team has been to “keep sharpening your axe” and maintain focus ahead of the Super Bowl matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 49ers’ final practice before the big game is scheduled for Friday afternoon, followed by a team barbecue in the evening. The players and coaches will then resume their focus on Saturday in preparation for Sunday’s game.

Shanahan highlighted the importance of maintaining routine and focus as the team approaches the game, emphasizing the significance of attention to detail and consistent preparation.

The team’s dedication and readiness have been evident throughout the week, and Shanahan expressed optimism for the upcoming game. With their final practice and team gathering ahead, the 49ers are gearing up for Super Bowl LVIII with determined focus and a sense of unity.
