SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – Homicide detectives in Seattle are investigating the tragic shooting that claimed the life of a 22-year-old man in the Mount Baker neighborhood early on Sunday morning. The incident, which prompted 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area, unfolded around 2:00 a.m. on 3600 34th Avenue South.

According to the police, the victim was discovered in the stairwell of a building with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite being rushed to Harborview Medical Center by paramedics, the young man succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The community has been left reeling from the loss, with residents like Alyce Watkins expressing anguish over the violent incident on Father’s Day.

Watkins, who resides in the apartment complex where the shooting occurred, lamented the lack of police presence in the area unless triggered by an event, highlighting concerns about safety – particularly with the imminent opening of a new park across the street. The neighborhood has grown desensitized to gun violence, further exacerbating fears about maintaining a secure environment.

Neighbors like Jay Gollyhorn, who placed balloons at the scene as a tribute to the victim, were emotional about the tragedy that unfolded. Gollyhorn, who was among those who dialed 911 upon hearing the shots, spoke of the heart-wrenching sight of seeing the victim’s body being removed from the area, emphasizing the need for action to prevent such incidents from recurring.
