Secret Service agent robbed at gunpoint during Biden fundraiser

TUSTIN, CA – A Secret Service agent was robbed at gunpoint over the weekend in Tustin, California, coinciding with President Biden’s visit to Los Angeles for a high-profile fundraiser.

On the evening of June 15, around 9:30 p.m., officers from the Tustin Police Department responded to a reported robbery at the Tustin Fields 1 residential community. Upon arrival, they discovered that the victim was a Secret Service agent who had been held at gunpoint and had his bag stolen.

During the robbery, an agent-involved shooting occurred, although it remains unclear if the suspect was injured. Police are actively searching for the suspect, who fled the scene in a silver Infiniti FX35, model years 2004-2006, or a similar vehicle.

Authorities have recovered some of the agent’s belongings in the vicinity, but the suspect remains at large. The Tustin Police Department has urged the public to assist in identifying the individual(s) involved by contacting them at 714-573-3372.

The robbery took place as President Biden was attending a star-studded fundraiser in Los Angeles, featuring celebrities such as George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Barbra Streisand. The event, held at the Peacock Theater, reportedly raised over $30 million for Biden’s campaign.

Tickets for the exclusive gala ranged from $250 to $500,000, offering various levels of access, including photos with Biden and former President Obama, and invitations to an after-party. This fundraiser follows another record-setting event hosted by CBS’ Stephen Colbert, which raised $26 million for Biden’s campaign.

Despite the incident, authorities have assured that there is no known threat to the public.
