Security Issue and Service Outage at Wyze Labs – What You Need to Know Now!

Seattle, WA – Wyze Labs, a home security camera company, is currently investigating a potential security issue that has led to a service outage and connectivity problems for its customers. The company has attributed this issue to a problem with its AWS partner, which has affected device connectivity and caused login difficulties.

According to an incident report posted by the company this morning, they have been working with AWS to address the problem and are taking steps to mitigate the issue on their end. Despite working all day to bring all cameras back online, Wyze is still monitoring device connection recovery and has advised customers experiencing issues to reboot or power-cycle their devices.

In response to the ongoing investigation, Wyze has temporarily disabled the “Events” tab in the Wyze app. Dave Crosby, the CMO and cofounder of Wyze, took to the company’s official forum to apologize for the outage and the restricted access to the Events tab. He reassured customers that Wyze is working to fully recover the cameras and promised to share the results of their investigation.

However, as the investigation continues, some customers have reported seeing other users’ video feeds under the Events tab in the app. This has caused concern among users, with some advising others to turn off their cameras until the issues are resolved.

Despite these reports and concerns, a Wyze spokesperson has not been available for comment at this time. The company continues to work towards resolving the security issue and restoring full functionality to its devices.
