Serial Killer Suspect Rex Heuermann Under Investigation Again – Cops Return to Massapequa Park Home

MASSAPEQUA PARK, New York – Investigators revisited the home of Rex Heuermann, a man accused of the murder of four women whose remains were discovered on or near Gilgo Beach in New York approximately 14 years ago. New York State Police were observed at Heuermann’s residence in Massapequa Park, where he has been charged in connection with the deaths of the four women. Video footage showcased law enforcement officials at the property.

Heuermann, an architect, was taken into custody in July and has since faced charges related to the deaths of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Lynn Costello. The women’s remains were located close to Gilgo Beach in December 2010, with a total of 11 sets of remains discovered starting that year. Heuermann, however, has only been charged in connection with four of the deaths.

An attorney for Heuermann’s estranged wife confirmed the presence of police at the couple’s former residence, disclosing that they were executing another search warrant. Heuermann has maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. The investigation has been ongoing, with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office declining to comment on the matter, citing the ongoing nature of the case.

The Gilgo Beach Homicide Task force remains actively involved in the investigation, conducting searches and following leads to piece together the events surrounding the women’s deaths. The discoveries made near Gilgo Beach in 2010 have sparked intense scrutiny and prompted a closer look at the circumstances leading to the tragic killings. State police are coordinating with the District Attorney’s Office to ensure that justice is served in this complex and harrowing case. The pursuit of truth and closure for the victims’ families continues as authorities work diligently to bring those responsible to account for their actions.
