Seven children shot in mass shooting at mall

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – A mass shooting in the bustling heart of Indianapolis late Saturday night resulted in injuries to seven children aged between 12 and 17. The incident occurred close to the Circle Centre Mall, a popular shopping destination in the downtown area, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Patrolling officers were alerted to the incident just after 11 p.m., when they heard gunshots. Upon reaching the West Maryland Street area, they found a large gathering of juveniles, six of whom had gunshot wounds. This was confirmed by Police Deputy Chief Tanya Terry in a Sunday morning news conference.

All injured children were immediately transported to local hospitals. A seventh victim was admitted later, Terry added. One of the victims was initially in critical condition but has since been stabilized, as per the hospital authorities.

The victims comprised four boys and three girls. As of Sunday morning, all victims were reported to be in stable condition. The Circle Centre Mall, where the incident took place, is a central hub of the city’s nightlife, surrounded by several busy bars and restaurants.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear. As of Sunday morning, no suspects had been apprehended in connection with the incident.
