Seven killed in fire at tailoring shop including kids

AURANGABAD, INDIA – A devastating fire in a tailoring shop located in the bustling business district of Aurangabad, Maharashtra, claimed the lives of seven individuals, including two minors, as reported by local law enforcement. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, sparked widespread panic in the area.

The victims are believed to have succumbed to smoke inhalation, as per initial investigations. The city’s chief of police, Manoj Lohiya, was cited by New Delhi Television, suggesting the cause of death.

The fire’s origin is under investigation by authorities in Aurangabad, situated approximately 210 miles northeast of Mumbai, the financial and entertainment hub of India.

Fires are unfortunately a frequent occurrence in India, often due to disregard for building regulations and safety codes by both builders and residents. This lack of adherence has led to several tragic incidents in the past.

In 2019, an electrical short circuit triggered a fire that engulfed a building in India’s capital, resulting in the death of 43 people. Similarly, in 2022, a fire in a four-story commercial building in New Delhi claimed at least 27 lives.
