Severe Storms Alert: Risk of Tornado, Hail, and High Winds Sunday Afternoon – Be Prepared!

Boston, Massachusetts – Residents in New England, including all of Massachusetts, have been put on alert by the WBZ NEXT Weather Team for the possibility of severe storms on Sunday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has categorized much of the region as being at a “slight” risk for severe weather, with potential threats of damaging winds, hail, and heavy downpours. There is also a small risk of tornadoes, estimated at around 2% as of now.

The timing for potential storms is expected to be between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Sunday. As the day progresses, temperatures are forecasted to rise near 90°F, with high humidity amplifying the potential for storm development. Following the storms on Sunday, there may be a chance of lingering showers on Monday, leading to drier and more pleasant weather conditions with increasing temperatures as the week progresses towards the 4th of July holiday.

The WBZ NEXT Weather Team will be closely monitoring the situation throughout the day on various platforms, including WBZ.com, WBZ-TV, and CBS News Boston. It is important for residents to stay informed and prepared for any potential weather hazards that may arise.

Meteorologist Lexie O’Connor, a member of the WBZ-TV team, will be providing updates and insights on the evolving weather conditions, drawing on her experience from previous work on Portland’s CBS and FOX morning show, Good Day Maine. Residents are advised to stay tuned to official weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the upcoming severe weather risk.
