Sheriff’s deputy car flips over after dramatic collision

SANTA CLARITA, CA – A Los Angeles County deputy narrowly escaped serious injury when his patrol car was sent airborne in a dramatic collision at a busy intersection Wednesday afternoon.

The incident took place shortly before 12:30 p.m. at the crossroads of Newhall Ranch Road and Bouquet Canyon Road. Dashcam footage from a nearby vehicle captured the moment a gold Lexus collided with the deputy’s cruiser as it traveled through the intersection. The force of the impact caused the patrol car to spin and flip through the air before it crashed into a silver SUV waiting at a stoplight.

Witnesses described the scene as something out of a movie. “It happened so fast,” said Allen Rapisura, whose dashboard camera recorded the crash. “One minute the patrol car was driving through the intersection, and the next it was flipping through the air.”

Another witness, Audry Carias, recounted the terrifying moment. “The police car was coming towards me when another car sped up and hit it,” she said. “The patrol car just flipped and hit two cars in front of me. Thankfully, I wasn’t hit.”

Bystanders quickly rushed to assist the deputy, who was later treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department praised the community’s swift response. “It speaks volumes that Santa Clarita residents are so supportive of our officers,” said LASD Sgt. Sherry Clark. “We are all relieved that the deputy walked away with only minor injuries.”

The deputy was reportedly responding to a burglary in progress at the time of the crash. The driver of the silver SUV was also treated and released from the hospital, while the elderly driver of the gold Lexus remained uninjured. No charges have been filed as the incident remains under investigation.
