Shooting outside high school leaves 17-year-old dead

SEATTLE, WA – A courageous 17-year-old boy was fatally shot during his heroic intervention to resolve a fight at his Seattle-based high school. The shooting broke out in the vicinity of the parking lot of Garfield High School, Seattle, on Thursday, around 12:30 p.m. Following the incident, the boy was rushed to a hospital, where he ultimately passed away as a result of his injuries.

Seattle police Deputy Chief Eric Barden explained that the scenario unfolded with a squabble between high school students. As an innocent bystander, the victim attempted to defuse the fight but was implicated in another altercation with one of the original fighters.

The suspect allegedly retaliated by firing multiple bullets at the unsuspecting teenager. The alleged assailant has evaded identification, having escaped from the scene after the incident.

Barden expressed sorrow over the teenager’s death, branding it an “extraordinary tragedy.” In the aftermath of the incident, the school administration has announced a temporary cessation of classes at Garfield High School on Friday and Monday.
