Shootout between vehicles on highway causes univolved motorist to crash

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is currently conducting an investigation into a freeway shooting incident that resulted in a car crash. The incident occurred on Wednesday around 11:00 am on the westbound lane of Highway 24 near Lafayette, California, according to the CHP’s Contra Costa office.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunshots exchanged between two vehicles traveling westbound. Amid the alleged gunfire, one of the involved vehicles collided with a Ford that was not part of the altercation. The Ford’s driver, fortunately, escaped the incident unharmed.

Following the collision, the two vehicles implicated in the shooting reportedly fled the scene. As of now, the authorities are still on the lookout for the suspects involved in the incident.

The westbound lanes of Highway 24 were temporarily closed for less than thirty minutes to allow for evidence collection. The CHP is urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact the CHP Contra Costa office in Martinez, California.
