Sinéad O’Connor’s Estate Demands Trump Stop Using Her Music: Outrage Ensues

Dublin, Ireland – The estate of Sinéad O’Connor has demanded that former US President Donald Trump cease using her music at his political rallies. According to the singer’s estate, O’Connor would have been appalled, hurt, and offended by Trump’s use of her music.

O’Connor’s estate, along with her long-standing label Chrysalis Records, released a joint statement expressing their displeasure with Trump’s appropriation of the singer’s iconic performance of “Nothing Compares 2 U.” They highlighted O’Connor’s commitment to honesty, kindness, fairness, and decency, emphasizing that Trump’s use of her music misrepresents her values.

The estate went on to demand that Trump and his associates refrain from using O’Connor’s music immediately. The statement condemned Trump’s use of several songs, including Abba’s “Dancing Queen,” Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” and Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds,” in addition to “Nothing Compares 2 U.”

Written by Prince, O’Connor’s rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U” topped the UK charts for four weeks in 1990. The estate’s firm stance against Trump standing in sharp contrast to the former president’s track record with musicians, including The Rolling Stones, Adele, and Rihanna, who have all requested that Trump refrain from using their music.

Trump, who lost the 2020 election to President Biden after serving as the 45th US president, faces mounting criticism from artists and estates for his unauthorized use of their music. O’Connor’s estate’s demand adds to the growing list of musicians who have spoken out against Trump’s use of their work for political purposes.
