Six people were killed, and twenty injured when restaurant explodes

PATNA, IN – A devastating fire sparked by a cooking gas cylinder explosion claimed the lives of six individuals and injured 20 others in a restaurant and hotel in Patna, eastern India. The incident occurred as customers were enjoying their meals, and the flames rapidly spread to a neighboring hotel, necessitating an immediate response from local firefighters.

The fire department swiftly arrived, deploying over a dozen fire engines to combat the blaze. The team managed to rescue at least 40 individuals from the engulfed buildings. The officer in charge, Satya Prakash, provided these details.

The hotel, located in a densely populated area adjacent to Patna’s railway station, suffered significant damage. Several vehicles parked nearby were also destroyed in the fire. Prakash reported that some hotel guests, in an attempt to escape the blaze, jumped from their windows, resulting in injuries.

Unfortunately, Fire-related incidents are common in India, where builders and residents often disregard building regulations and safety codes. In the past few years, multiple deadly fires have occurred, including a 2019 incident where an electrical short circuit resulted in 43 fatalities in the Indian capital, and a 2022 fire in a New Delhi commercial building that claimed at least 27 lives.
