Six people shot across Birmingham AL

BIRMINGHAM, AL – A grim afternoon in Birmingham resulted in six fatalities across two separate incidents, leaving several families, including that of Mayor Randall Woodfin, in deep sorrow.

Around 2:45 p.m., a violent shooting occurred in the 900 block of Center Street North, claiming the lives of four men. Three individuals were pronounced dead at the scene, while the fourth succumbed to his injuries at UAB hospital, as per Birmingham Police Department reports.

The victims, all hailing from Birmingham, were identified as Cortez Ray, 32, Talton Tate, 36, Terrell Edwards, 38, and Kevin McGhee, 38. Birmingham police Chief Scott Thurmond expressed his belief that this was a targeted attack, not a random act of violence.

Approximately an hour after the first incident, police were called to the 4100 block of 10th Avenue Wylam. There, they discovered a white Taurus, driven by 20-year-olds Christan Norris and Angeliyah Webster. The couple, who had been missing since Valentine’s Day, were confirmed dead. Mayor Woodfin revealed that one of the victims was his cousin.

In the wake of these tragic events, Mayor Woodfin issued a statement expressing his grief and calling for justice. He urged anyone with information about these incidents to contact CrimeStoppers at (205) 254-7777, emphasizing that justice cannot be achieved in the dark and the families of the victims deserve answers.
