Six people shot at subway station

BRONX, NY – A deadly shooting incident occurred at a subway station in the Bronx on Monday evening, leaving one person dead and five others injured, according to local authorities. The incident happened at the Mount Eden Avenue station around 4:30 p.m. ET, with police officers responding to multiple 911 calls.

Upon arrival, the officers discovered six victims, four men and two women, with ages ranging from 14 to 71. All victims were transported to nearby hospitals. Tragically, a 34-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at St. Barnabas Hospital, as confirmed by NYPD Chief of Transit Michael M. Kemper during a media briefing.

The remaining victims sustained injuries that were not life-threatening. Kemper revealed that the shooting was not a random act, but rather the culmination of a dispute between two groups on a No. 4 train. As the train arrived at the station, one individual reportedly drew a weapon and began firing.

Kemper expressed his outrage at the incident, emphasizing the need for swift and severe consequences once an arrest is made. He also noted that some of the victims were involved in the initial dispute, while others were innocent bystanders. Further details about the victims were not disclosed at the briefing.

As of now, there is no identified suspect in the shooting, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
