Gilmour was diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, a condition so rare that it affects fewer than one-in-a-million people worldwide. The possible culprit behind her affliction was lamotrigine, a medication prescribed for depression. The connection between the chest infection and her reaction remains unclear.
Hospitalized, Gilmour encountered a medical team ill-prepared to treat her condition.
