Smirnov, Former FBI Informant, Indicted for Lying About Biden Connection

Las Vegas, NV – A former FBI informant, Alexander Smirnov, has been charged with lying about President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden’s involvement in business dealings with Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings. These charges undercut a major aspect of the Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into the president. Smirnov, 43, was arrested at the Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas after his arrival in the U.S. from overseas.

According to the indictment, Smirnov’s story to the FBI was a fabrication and a mix of otherwise unremarkable business meetings and contacts that had actually occurred at a later date than he claimed. The purpose of these meetings was to pitch Burisma on the services and products that Smirnov offered, not to discuss bribes to Joe Biden when he was in office. The indictment alleges that Smirnov’s now-discredited allegations have been championed by Congressional Republicans for roughly a year.

It is worth noting that House Oversight Chair James Comer has stated that his investigation into the president does not rely on the FBI’s FD-1023 – a form used by the FBI to memorialize information gathered from confidential sources – that Republican legislators have cited. Comer emphasized that the impeachment inquiry is based on a large record of evidence, including bank records and witness testimony, revealing that Joe Biden was aware of and involved in his family’s business dealings.

Smirnov reportedly told an FBI agent that he had spoken with the owner of Burisma about the company’s efforts to buy a company in the United States. This record to the FBI also noted that someone referred to as “Businessperson 1” was on the board of Burisma and was the son of an individual referred to as “Public Official 1,” identified as Joe Biden, and “Businessperson 1” as Hunter Biden. Smirnov also alleged that executives paid $5 million each to Joe and Hunter Biden while Joe Biden was vice president in exchange for Hunter taking care of issues through his father.

The Trump administration’s efforts to investigate the Bidens set off a chain of events that led to the first impeachment of President Donald Trump. Abbe Lowell, Hunter Biden’s lawyer, asserted that the impeachment inquiry is based on lies told by people with political agendas, not facts. He added that this revelation is another instance of false allegations peddled by Republicans.

These revelations add a new twist to the ongoing political drama surrounding the Bidens and the allegations made against them. The case against Smirnov brings into question the credibility of the allegations and the motives behind them. This development may influence the ongoing political discourse surrounding the Bidens’ business dealings and their implications for the President.
