Snowmobile Tragedy Strikes New Hampshire Again: Massachusetts Woman Killed in Second Crash in a Week

Gorham, New Hampshire – A tragic incident unfolded in Gorham, New Hampshire, as a 48-year-old woman from Westford, Massachusetts lost her life in a snowmobile crash near Pine Mountain. This unfortunate event marks the second fatality involving a Massachusetts resident in the North Country region of New Hampshire in less than a week. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department reported that the rescue operation commenced after the woman crashed her snowmobile and was found unresponsive by her riding companion on the Bear Springs snowmobile trail.

Rescue personnel from various agencies swiftly responded to the remote trail to assist the victim, but despite the CPR efforts by her companion and the first responders, the woman could not be revived. The victim has been identified as Krista Bebezas. Authorities suspect that lack of experience significantly contributed to the tragic crash, echoing a similar sentiment from a previous incident on February 16 in which another Massachusetts woman lost her life in a snowmobile crash in the North Country region.

The earlier fatality involved 39-year-old Shawnee Hollis from North Brookfield, Massachusetts, who tragically perished in a snowmobile crash in Milan, New Hampshire. Fish and Game officials highlighted inexperience as a key factor in that unfortunate incident as well. The consecutive tragedies underscore the inherent risks associated with snowmobiling, especially for those lacking sufficient experience in handling these vehicles.

As investigations continue into these accidents, authorities urge all individuals engaging in snowmobiling activities to prioritize safety, undergo proper training, and adhere to all regulations to prevent further tragedies. The incidents serve as poignant reminders of the importance of caution and preparedness when partaking in outdoor winter activities in remote areas like the North Country region of New Hampshire.
