BRAINTREE, Mass. – A suspect has been taken into custody following a stabbing incident that left four young girls injured at a movie theater in Braintree, a town located south of Boston. The Braintree Police Department reported that the attack occurred around 6 p.m. local time on Saturday evening.
According to authorities, the suspect, a male individual, entered the AMC multiplex without a ticket and proceeded to stab the four girls, aged between 9 and 17, inside one of the theaters. The motive for the attack remains unclear, and the girls were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses at the theater described the scene as heartbreaking, with the young victims visibly shaken by the incident. The suspect, described as wearing an oversized trench coat, sunglasses, and a long blonde wig, fled the scene in a black SUV after the attack.
Law enforcement officials were able to identify the suspect through video footage and subsequently located him in Plymouth, where he was reportedly involved in a similar assault at a McDonald’s restaurant. In this second incident, a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man were also stabbed but sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The Massachusetts State Police, who are leading the investigation, stated that there is a probable connection between the two attacks in Braintree and Plymouth. The suspect was apprehended after a car chase that ended in the town of Sandwich, where he crashed his vehicle.
Sources revealed that the suspect may also be tied to a murder investigation in Deep River, Connecticut, as authorities there had issued an alert describing him as armed and dangerous. The suspect’s identity and the charges he will face have not been disclosed at this time.
The community remains on edge as they grapple with the shock of these violent incidents, prompting a heightened sense of alertness among residents. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the suspect’s actions and any potential accomplices involved in these disturbing events.
