Student arrested after stabbing incident at school

AMMANFORD, WALES – A secondary school student in Wales was arrested on Wednesday. She was suspected of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a fellow student and two teachers, according to Dyfed-Powys Police. The incident occurred at Amman Valley School, located in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire.

The victims, while severely wounded, are expected to recover. They were transported to a nearby hospital, which also led to the recovery of a knife from the scene.

In a statement, police Superintendent Ross Evans confirmed the arrest of a teenage girl and assured the public that the situation had been controlled. However, he declined to give more information about the suspected assailant or the specifics of the attack.

Independent Parliament member Jonathan Edwards revealed that the teachers sustained injuries while trying to intervene during the attack on the student. He stated that while one teacher was treated for arm and hand injuries, the other was transferred to a hospital in Cardiff for more serious treatment.

Many in the local community, including officials, expressed their shock and dismay at the incident. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Vaughan Gething, First Minister of Wales, were among those taking to social media to voice their concerns.

The General Secretary of the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers, Patrick Roach, called the attack “extremely distressing” and demanded more efforts to ensure the safety of both school staff and students.
