Mecija’s devotion to Taylor Swift dates back to her childhood, where she bonded with her father over the singer’s music during car rides. The announcement of Taylor Swift’s concert in Singapore made missing the opportunity a non-negotiable option for Mecija, who had followed the artist from afar due to limited concert opportunities in the Philippines.
To secure her attendance at the concert, Mecija strategically planned her trip, starting with securing a ticket during a pre-sale event for cardholders with United Overseas Bank. Despite facing intense competition with over 1 million people vying for tickets, Mecija managed to secure a Category 3 ticket for $294. Following the ticket purchase, Mecija navigated the challenge of arranging her international transportation, opting for a flight from Manila to Kuala Lumpur with AirAsia for $250 and a bus trip from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore for $12.
In terms of lodging, Mecija booked accommodations for a total of nine nights, including six nights in a four-star hotel in Kuala Lumpur for $70 per night, totaling $420, and three nights in a four-star hotel in Singapore for $230 per night, amounting to $690. With a budget of a little over $1,600 for the trip, Mecija emphasized the importance of allowing oneself to indulge in luxuries while traveling and treating oneself to unique experiences.
Looking ahead, Mecija shared her plans for another trip to Stockholm for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour stop there in May, showcasing her dedication as a fan.
